Dr. Booch, I just found out about your "classic software preservation project" on your blog when I was looking for information about MacPaint source code and its public release, which was mentioned in the interview with Andy Hertzfeld. (http://www.pbs.org/cringely/nerdtv/transcripts/001.html) My question is, will the MacPaint source code released to the public (that is, like Andy mentioned in the interview, source code available through the Web) and if so, when? A few weeks ago I posted Japanese translation of the interview to my blog, including the episode about the MacPaint (which was at the end of the interview), and now I am receiving really huge number of responses, many of which mentioning great expectations for its source code release. So I'd really love to know the current status of your project and pass the word to the people of technical community in Japan. Regards, -- Hideo Fukumori fukumori at acm.org
